Successful 8th Annual Fallen Heroes Ride

American Legion Riders, Post 605, Dallastown, PA completed the Fallen Heroes Ride on Saturday, June 6, 2020. It was a beautiful day for a ride which started at ALR Post 605 in Dallastown, PA.  The event drew over 105 bikes and went off without a hitch. The ride honored, U.S. Army 1LT Daren Hidalgo, West Point Class of 2009, who was killed in the line of duty on February 20th, 2011 while serving in Kandahar Province, Afghanistan, U.S. Marine Corps SGT Christopher Wrinkle, who was killed in the line of duty on July 31st, 2011 while serving in Herat Province, Afghanistan, U.S. Marine Corps SSG Tosca, K-9 Military War Dog, who was killed in the line of duty on July 31st, 2011 while serving in Herat Province, Afghanistan, U.S. Marine Corps SSGT Benjamin Hines, who was killed on April 8th, 2019 while conducting combat operations in Afghanistan, and ALL of our Fallen Heroes from the Greater York County, Pennsylvania area.   ALL COVID-19 Social Distancing guidelines were followed during this...

2020 Daren M. Hidalgo Memorial Scholarship Award

The 2020 Daren M. Hidalgo Memorial Scholarship recipient is Joel Staub of Dallastown Area High School (DAHS).   Joel was a French Horn player and High Brass Captain for the marching band.  During his last three years of high school, he worked as private violin teacher and did numerous paid events in the Jubal String Quartet.  Joel was a member of the National Honor Society during his last two years in DAHS.  He will be pursuing a degree in music education at Ithaca College in New York.  Joel is the tenth recipient of the $5,000 Daren M. 8th Annual Hidalgo/Warner Memorial Golf Outing Now in 2021

The COVID-19 Pandemic has impacted the date for the  8th Annual Hidalgo/Warner Memorial Golf Outing. The event has been postponed from July 17 2020 to July 23 2021 at the Western Lakes Golf Club in Pewaukee, Wisconsin.  We are disappointed to have to postpone the event, but the safety of family and friends is paramount.  All registrants have been contacted and provided the following options: Transferring their registration and sponsorship to next year Receiving a full refund for this year’s registration Donating this year’s sponsorship. Since our inaugural event, we have raised $275,000 for Fisher House Wisconsin, Daren M. Hidalgo Memorial Fund, and Richard D. Warner Memorial Fund.  We can’t wait to continue this incredible event of gathering together, remembering, raising money for scholarships and military families. We will be sending out registration information for the 2021 Hidalgo/Warner Memorial Golf Outing in early March of 2021.  We are looking forward to getting back on track in 2021 – and maybe  get some nice weather.   We pray for everyone’s continued safety and good health throughout this pandemic.  ...

2020 Daren M. Hidalgo Memorial Scholarship

The Daren M. Hidalgo Memorial Fund seeks to assist wrestlers and band members who have strength of character, a strong academic record, commitment to pursue a post-secondary education, and a desire to contribute to society. AMOUNT:  The scholarship in the amount of $5,000 for tuition and books will be paid out as a lump sum award. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: The eligibility criteria for the Daren M. Hidalgo Scholarship are as follows: Enrolled full time as a high school senior progressing normally toward graduation in spring/summer of 2020, with plans to enter a college in the United States no later than the fall following graduation. A strong commitment to pursuing and completing a post-secondary program at an accredited institution. Involvement in co-curricular and community service activities. Past and continued good behavior, both in and out of school. United States citizenship. Member of the Dallastown Wrestling Team or Dallastown Band. APPLICATION PROCEDURES: To apply for the Daren M. Hidalgo Scholarship all documentation must be postmarked or emailed by March 27, 2020. Students must submit the Daren M. Hidalgo Memorial Scholarship application. Be as complete as possible while filling out this application.  Incomplete applications will not be considered. Forms must be typed or neatly printed. Students must submit a copy of SAT/ACT scores and their official high school transcript. Students must submit a recommendation letter from a wrestling coach or band director. 2019 Daren M. Hidalgo Memorial Scholarship Presentation

We presented the 2019 Daren M. Hidalgo Memorial Scholarship to Eva Wolfe and Donovan Trauger on June 2, 2019 during the Dallastown High School Senior Awards Presentation.  Both Eva and Donovan were members of the National Honor Society. Eva Wolfe played oboe on the DAHS School Band. She will be attending Lehigh University in the fall and will major in Chemical Engineering. Donovan was a leader on the wrestling team and the trumpet section leader on the DAHS School Band. He will be attending Penn State University in the fall and will major in Business Management with a minor in Spanish. This year we awarded two $5000 scholarships since both students were so well qualified. We wish them luck as they leave home and embark on their college adventures. 2019 Daren M.
